The issue was most of the foul pole was yellow. When

the ball went in front of it, it was lost in the yellow except for a split second (seen with frame-by-frame advance on an HDTV) when it went in front of some purple lettering. You could clearly see the ball at that point.

After the real-time play, one announcer said fair, one announcer said foul and one announcer did not say (Note: I may not be remembering the third announcer's reaction correctly, but the other two are correct for sure).

When they showed replays, the one who said fair convinced the one who said foul to change his mind.

However, one could not see that it was foul without frame-by-frame advancement. I could see it with that.

The PBP announcer commented that based on the reactions of the LSU crowd in that area, they did not think it was fair.

Some innings later one of the announcers said he was contacted on twitter and told it was a foul ball and to look at the purple lettering. As I said, that is what I had already done because you could not see that white ball moving across the yellow background, but you could see it moving across the purple.

I believe it was a hard call, and yes, I saw it better than all of the the people who thought it was fair.

I would take a screenshot of the ball in front of the purple and post it, but I deleted the game immediately after watching it. I am not sure a replay on espn3 will work (and I am not trying anyway).
