So if the US Men's are the Cleveland Brown in your example
then what are the US Women's? Since the World Cup is a global event, then I am not even sure the NBA-WNBA reference is even germane to the discussion. If you want an apples-apples comparison, then maybe US Soccer should be compared to the US Olympic teams.

The last sentence is what I want to highlight because there are a couple Olympic sports that are co-ed. If USOC pays its men and women athletes equally (via a stipend) for each sport, then maybe US Soccer should take the same approach.
