Will the state allow UConn to cancel the football program

after it spent $91.2 million ($124 million in 2018 dollars) to build Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field? Right now UConn football is the only tenant for the stadium and I don't think the state has any other candidates for additional (or replacement) tenants on the horizon outside a few temporary events (i.e. concerts, soccer friendlies, rugby friendlies, etc). The state may have even contributed taxpayer money to help build the $40 million dollar UConn Basketball Champions Center which was built on top of where Memorial Stadium (UConn's former on campus football stadium) once stood.

I do think it is possible that the state may allow UConn to switch back to DI-FCS subdivision.
