I agree that it's too early to say that Fuente is on the same path, but...


I don't understand how someone in this fanbase can say that Fuente has had "ample time." As already mentioned in this thread, Dabo went 6-7 in his third season (2nd full season to be fair, he went 4-3 as the interim in 2008). If it was deemed he had had "ample time" and Clemson let him go, where would they be right now? Even the season after that, yes they won the ACC but went 2-4 in their last 6 games and allowed West Virginia to put up 70 points on them in the Orange Bowl. Building a big-time program takes time.

What if Virginia Tech had decided Beamer had had "ample time" after his sixth season when he went 2-8-1? I understand results are expected a little bit faster in this day and age, but three seasons is simply not enough time to judge a coach, especially a coach undertaking a rebuilding project. If VT limps to 6-6 or worse then year, then maybe let's talk. Otherwise, if VT shows improvement this year, Fuente absolutely deserves a fifth season to attempt to compete for the ACC title with a roster made up entirely of his guys.
