Those names have to be approved, and it can get tough to do.


In the RVA area they're approved by the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission. New names can't duplicate or be similar to other names within 5-6 county area plus city of Richmond.

all for the 911 system to limit confusion.

I hate have a single name with several suffixes (John Doe Street, Lane, Circle, Court, etc. but it's needed to make reserving names easier. Newer suffixes re Hill, Way, ....

I've googled my street name (Kingussle) and there is only 1 mention of the name other than my street. It's in a book of "Transactions of the Highland and Agricultural society of Scotland" published in 1907, stored in a library in Minnesota. How Google found that I have no idea.
