I really only follow VT athletics, and some ACC stuff, so I had no idea who this guy was. We had some basketball knowledgeable people saying he was a good hire because he was (a) from this area, and (b) he was an excellent "Xs & Os" guy. Others said this was an awful choice because Whit was only able to sign his 27th man on his list (exaggerating, but you remember the discussions) because everyone who was any good kept turning him down.

I pretty much stayed silent on the issue because I had no idea. I'm generally optimistic, so I hoped the knowledgeable people who knew him were correct. Lets just say his recruiting has completely blown me away. It's hard to describe because is has been so far beyond my expectations.
