As I said...
There was a discussion between Texas and the Pac-12. Neither Oklahoma, Texas A&M or Texas Tech had any conversations with the Pac-12. None. Texas spoke on their behalf and that is part of the problem right there. Chip Brown is the guy that broke the story, but it is accepted now that he was either a willing or unwilling mouth piece for Texas, who wanted to scare the rest of the Big-12 into staying after Nebraska and Colorado left and to keep sole ownership of the LHN, which was causing all of the trouble.
Chip Brown rode this horse for about 18 months and even stated emphatically over and over again that there was no truth whatsoever of Texas A&M talking to or moving to the SEC. So we saw just valid he was as a source.
In the end Texas had to say something about it and they mostly denied all of it, but even these denials were handled through a third party, then Big-12 commissioner Dan Beebe.
Most believe this was all a ruse by Texas to corral the remaining Big-12 members and the get them to all to stop moaning about the LHN. It worked, until Missouri and Texas A&M moved. Missouri did everything but on lipstick and pantyhose and whore itself to the Big-Ten only to be told to run along, we don't want your kind here.
The SEC was happy to grab Texas A&M but this left them with an imbalance and they needed a new team in the EAST. Missouri pleaded their case as did WVU. ESPN told the SEC that Missouri had more market value and the SEC invited the Tigers to join the East divisions as the westernmost team.
There was never, imo, anything going on between the Pac-12 and Texas. Texas did what it always does, plays people for fools and a lot of sportswriters and fan got swept up in it. Eight years later people accept it as true when in fact it was just a big Texas Snow Job.
