This is money, and priorities and evolution of things

The unfortunate thing, is that will ultimately be the separation of programs.

These schools are willing to pay anything for football, its more than university R&D, faculty and academic facilities. JUST FOOTBALL. At the end they will have the best facilities, support staff and TOTAL football environment that most of the 4-5 star players (who plans to be there at the max 2-3 years) while they polish themselves for the NFL while degree, finanically doesn't match making six -7 figures.

Other schools will be thats ok. We are what we are. HOWEVER, I do think schools have to be honest to their base. There is a line where no matter what hard work, quality staff and great academics, programs will not compete with the GA and Ala of the world.

IT is out of control but NO one will stop it. NCAA cannot stop GA and AL or the others. They just take their toys and programs like them will leave the NCAA and establish their own league. Of course non-profit and don't play the NCAA teams. More money for them. You think congress will mess with the non-profit tax designation collegiate sports. NO....and this is both sides of the aisle.

Just some schools will decide thats enough and take the hits. UCONN was first, What CAL. Great academic school, amazing campus and just can't compete financially. I can see them making a decision and de-emphasize collegiate sports and basically like CAL TECH and just still do amazing things as an university and just move on. in the thirties University of Chicago a founding member of the Big ten did this, Washington and Lee and George Washington the same in forties and sixties.

We might see during this tenure, Big Conferences will be bigger, however members will be required to invest more and more (or be left behind)....THe remaining be left behind. During this period we will see many schools try to reach and get themselves financially strapped...

BTW VT and UVA are on the same facility game, VT is pre planning east side renovation of lane (including more premium seating, more diverse eating and entertaining venues, Cassel is getting ready for a major renovation. This is extra facilities could incur another 80-100 million total in capital. (that is another reason that VT has to grow in enrollment, larger class larger revenue streams, larger R&D, larger support staff and larger program).... Same at UVA with the new 80 million dollar football support facility (Their version of the the clemson facility). and you know VT will have to match whatever....
