I don't think it's the QB, it's the way that QB is utilized.


Willis is simply not, and will never be, a spread/RPO guy. Yet CornFu stubbornly insist on an offensive strategy that asks him to do things he isn't good at.

Either play Willis and come up with a game plan that plays to his strengths... which would include more pitchouts and sweeps for the RBs... or stick to your beloved RPO offense and play Hooker.

The best coaches are those who look at the players they have and design plays that allow those players to maximize their strengths and hide their weaknesses. The worst coaches are those that think their scheme is perfect and those darn players just can't execute it well enough, regardless of the skillset those players possess.

IMHO, if Willis had transferred to a school running either an Air Raid or traditional pro-style offense, people might be surprised at how effective he could be. After seeing the success that JJ and McMillian had after escaping our offensive coaches, no reason to think Willis would be any different.
