California "Fair Pay to Play" law: what do you think?

1) I'm OK with athletes getting some relief from the clutches of the NCAA.

2) However, I'm also kind of OK with the NCAA's statement that this issue needs to be taken care of in a more uniform, national fashion instead of having states attack it piecemeal -- if only for logistical reasons.

3) What I am definitely not OK with is the statement by California legislators that they intend to pass this legislation in order to "force" the rest of the nation to follow suit -- i.e. California's lead.

I am sick and tired of the people, politicians, and powers in that state feeling that they have the right (and indeed the moral imperative!) to determine what is right for the country as a whole -- on number of issues. It matters not that I actually kind of agree with the positions in this particular bill. It's the TONE that California and Californians have towards the rest of us that makes the whole thing so objectionable.

I wish someday there could be a referendum on politely asking CA to leave and form their own nation. I think Californians would be surprised how that vote turned out. Heck, the Calexit folks want out anyway.
