Bethune-Cookman is a HBCU and HBCU struggle to maintain
enough funding for their athletic departments to remain competitive with their peers regardless if they DI, DII, or DIII. So the HBCUs really need the payday more than the other DI-FCS schools. FWIW both the MEAC and SWAC have chosen not to have their champion compete in the NCAA DI-FCS Playoffs due to a lack of competitiveness. Even VT has played against a MEAC (FAMU) before. If VT can do it, then why shouldn't Miami do it too?
