Good win for the Hokies. I think a lot more can be learned upon from this game this last. Aisha Sheppard definitely has more confidence going into this year than last. I like how we don't seem to be scared to shoot the ball anymore, which is a good thing, but we also need to make sure we are not rushing things and getting good shots. Seems like we were trying to rush some things this game, especially Aisha but she didn't let the bad possessions get her down which is a major difference from last year. Kitley is going to have off and on nights just due to being a freshman and adjusting. Seems like she is struggling a little bit with the 3 second call. I think once she stops thinking about that so much and gets more use to the flow of the college game she is going to be great. Rivers is going to be a player we need to continue to have good games both offensively and defensively. Really impressed with how she played today. Dara Mabrey is one of the best 3 point shooters ever, but she needs to be more confident in driving to the basket because you don't want to be one dimensional and she isn't. I think Mabrey is the best passer on the team followed by Cole. She sees a lot of things before they even happen. We haven't had point guards like Mabrey and Cole in a long time. I think Cole is great at facilitating but she needs to shoot more cause she has a great shot. Trinity Baptiste has to play better for us to succeed, we need her and her physicality in the game, especially when we play stronger teams. If we ever have a game where everyone is hitting on all cylinders at once and the players keep improving their game, we can be dangerous and a team to watch for. But we have to get better still at a lot of things. We have to play loose but not too loose at the same time. Sometimes we have ugly turnovers and I think that is due to trying to rush things and confidence. Defensively we need to get way better and not get into foul trouble early, because in the ACC that is going to be crucial and against quality opponents. Overall good performance by the ladies today and nice to have good film to work with with all the new players this year. I think this team is still coming together. Just my thoughts.
