Oh I agree the booster angle is harder to overcome

Hence why I raised the question about how far back the NCAA could hold a "booster" or "recruit" accountable. At least I would think it would be difficult for the NCAA to prove that the reason a booster was doing something nice for what appears to be an ordinary elementary age kid is because the booster had a "master plan" to influence this elementary aged kid to some day play sports for his/her alma mater.

Now I do think it can be easier for the NCAA to connect the dots with a high school aged "recruit," but even then the issue may not be black-n-white. WRT the Memphis Case, the burden of proof should be on the NCAA to prove that the only reason Hardaway helped Wiseman's family move to Memphis in 2017 is because he wanted Wiseman to attend Memphis some day and not because Hardaway wanted Wiseman play for HS team because he was really good. It is possible that in 2017 Hardaway was only thinking about his HS team and thought of Wiseman playing for Memphis had not crossed his mind.

The reason I am willing to consider the possibility is because something similar happened to me when I was in middle school. One summer I attended Ralph Sampson's basketball camp. My coach at the camp was also the HC of Moorefield HS (WV) varsity basketball team. He was so impressed with my ball handling skills that he tried to get me to transfer to his HS just so I could play basketball for him. Even though I was flattered by the offer and I would have done it, my mother wisely knew my future wasn't in basketball (even HS basketball). I can't say I don't blame her because I built more like Charles Barkley than John Stockton. Heck I never made any of the basketball teams at Harrisonburg HS. If something like that could happen to me in the late 80s/early 90s, then I don't see why the same thing couldn't have happened to Wiseman.
