At the same time once the season starts for whatever sport they are playing, I would think all incoming freshmen are still tossed in the deep end when it comes to developing good time management between school and their sport(s). In terms of preparation for having good time management between school and their sport(s), it would be interesting to compare Fall Athletes who enroll in January to Spring Athletes who enroll in the Summer or Fall Semester to see if one is "better prepared" when additional responsibilities are placed on the individual.
