I'd be curious to know how psychology plays a role in addiction.


Consuming too much sugar doesn't have the stigma that nicotine addiction has, and nicotine addiction doesn't have the stigma that opioid addiction has. I wonder how much impact on resistance to addiction there is from simply wanting to avoid the social fallout of addiction vs. substance use/abuse.
