4 is a good number for the playoffs. If your purpose is to find the best


team to be recognized as national champ. 8 teams or more turns it into a tournament. I understand that football fans would get more football but 4 is fine with me.
I'm old and I liked the NCAA basketball tournament at 32 teams having to earn a spot.
