First, I don't see the ACC just getting 3 bids period, unless the final standings are so obvious to that fact. Also I think Mike Young being a likable guy and being one of the hottest coaches in the country right now (don't forget he personally is coming off a 30-5 year himself at another school), will give us a 1-2 game buffer. When it's between the 4th best ACC school (us presumably) vs the 3rd best A10 school (Richmond at 15-4), this stuff will matter.
