While it is more common to wear masks in many asian countries


i have seen many people here wear masks when they have a cold.

according to the cdc wearing a mask if you are sick can help you reduce the chance others will get sick. if you are healthy, it doesn't really help you that much (if at all) to NOT get sick.

I just had to help write and edit our embassy notice and message to americans in the country about dengue and coronavirus.
