I’ll add. There was a recognition (partially identified by TSL) that the number of donors to the Hokie club was as important as the amount of big donors donating six figure amounts or more

Everyone hopes for a Phil knight that could cut a nine figure check and make the finances easy for everyone else. Everyone else could enjoy the benefits of his generosity

But small donors matter too. If the Hokie club recruits 10000 fans and alumni to give $100 each, that raises one million dollars in year one. Then if the Hokie club cultivates that gift with social media and mail updates and that initial million dollars grows annually. That should be happening but I don’t see that it is.

I signed up for the drive for 25. I was glad to join the Hokie club to support the school and team I love. But the Hokie club never asked me to renew my membership

Finally, I live in nova. This area is now a hotbed for IT. Every parent dreams that their kids might go to UVa or Virginia Tech. As they taught in church on Sunday, the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. The Hokie club needs to get religious. They need to preach loving and supporting the Virginia tech teams we follow.
