This could be the wreck that tells him it is time to walk away from the sport. I will say that race car drivers are a rare breed of people. Some would even say "Racing is in their blood." Most drivers will experience at least 1 "serious" wreck in their career. I think this may have been Newman's second or third one. Yet they find the will to want to get back behind the wheel after going through a horrific crash. My late uncle told me they willingly do it because they are determined to conquer their fears instead of letting their fears conquer them.
