I'm not knocking the current assistants in any way....

....many times their "roles" in game, are determined by the Head Coach. Look at the seating chart. Brooks really only has Coach Poppie in his ear, and that is who he interacts with, during play. Coach Brown and Coach Anderson are seated further down the line, sometimes with players in between. That is entirely up to the Head Coach. I've seen NBA and WNBA games with veteran assistants doing little more than holding clip boards and keeping stats during the game.

I agree with you, that it appears Kenny could use a veteran assistant, a former Head Coach, alpha male or female personality type, to add some fire to that sideline. Also, to help steady the ship at crunch time, with a firm plan of attack and strategy. The only problem here is finding a balance for the egos involved. Most experienced Head Coaches, will not step aside in those situations, because of the optics. Brenda Frese did, but who else? I can't think of a single male coach, in women's hoops, other than Gary Blair at Texas A&M. He always has a strong, experienced, X and O guy to basically take charge down the stretch, in a tight game. He doesn't care how it looks, he wants to win. That is not a weakness. It's smart.
