Chip talked to the importance of the NC State series being played this weekend at home. He couldn't be more right. Looking at the ACC schedules, it may be necessary to sweep the Pack in order to have the best regular season record. I know it is really early in the conference season but the Pack has a real favorable schedule. As of now, it looks like the top 5 teams are VT, Duke, FSU, NC State and ND. We play all of the other teams in this group; NC State has already played ND and they avoid both FSU and Duke this year. The reverse of this are games against the worst teams. These are series that a good team should sweep. The worst 4 teams are probably Virginia, Pitt, Syracuse and BC (there is an argument for UNC but they have had injury problems that may get resolved). We have obviously already played the Hoos and play none of the other three. The Pack meanwhile has series against Pitt, Syracuse and BC. The disparity in schedules gives NC State a big advantage. To a lesser extent, FSU and Duke have more favorable schedules than us since neither plays the Pack. It would be nice to have a big crowd this weekend but, as of now, the weather looks terrible.
