Like the look of a few of those options
Really would like the true freshman to redshirt if possible (Ventresca, Hillegas, Ulrey, Fisher and yes Catka - to grow into more of a true heavyweight). Ulrey is a beast and wrestled 160 this season but looked small for 160 compared to many of his opponents -Nichter looked much bigger at PIAAAs. Regardless what a great group with unlimited potential. And Mitch and Bryce would be very well served by redshirts at some point (ideally sooner vs. later but that may not be able to happen). Brandon Green’s unfortunate health really throws a wrench into some of the VT wrestling plans. Most importantly of course, Brandon is ok - best of health young man! From a wrestling perspective, Brandon’s junior and senior high school years were trending in a very similar way to Mekhi’s last 2 years in high school.
Next year would like to see Sam at 125 and Korbin at 133. I know Robie says he likes Borst at heavyweight, but would love to see him at 197 - after watching him for years - just looks like he could be a natural there and after watching a lot of 197/HW think he could excel at 197 - just so much for him to overcome at HW.
A good move for the staff would be to keep eyes and ears open on the portal and/or especially one year grad transfers at 133 (uncertainty around Korbin), 141 & 149 (use those redshirts for Mitch and Bryce if appropriate and opportunity presents), 174, 197 and HW. Obviously not all of them would happen in one year, but see what potential options are out there and adjust the lineup accordingly and with redshirts. Lots of options. Got to figure out how to maximize the Hillegas, Mitch, Bryce, Brady, Ulrey talent across the weights over the years (working around Mekhi of course). 2 more years of Hunter. Regardless, increase the talent pool at a few spots and it could be a special few years! Go Hokies!
