Baseless/uniformed speculation on my part is she did not have a

committable offer from ND out of high school. I suspect it was some kind of PWO with a chance to earn a scholarship at a later time and Mabrey was not okay with that and decided to make her own name. Now something is probably available and she can jump ship to where she always wanted to be.

(Maybe it is not completely baseless speculation. I remember reading articles trying to figure out if she really chose a Tech scholarship over a Notre Dame scholarship, and it was not clear - maybe purposely so.)

Since I am a Tech fan and look at things from Tech's perspective, I do not think much of it if that is what happened (and as I said, I do not know that is what happened).
