3) Eyes and ears open for potential transfer - awesome this is being considered by the coaches.
- Would like to see a HWT transfer - prob a graduate transfer - allow Hunter Catka to RS and give him a true heavy training partner with recent experience. Someone like Stencel would be perfect - allow me to dream! Borst goes to 197 in HWT grad transfer scenario. After years of watching John, still think he could excel at 197.
4) Or Grad transfer at 197 and have Borst remain at HWT for another year and still redshirt Hunter Catka.
5) Someone mentioned a few days ago Mitch wasn’t going to redshirt this year - be interesting there. Hillegas 138 in high school / redshirting most likely next year as an incoming freshman. Will be interesting to see if Hillegas is 133/141/149 in college. If Mitch decides to redshirt - be open to a 141 grad transfer to allow Hillegas to redshirt (or Gerardi).
6) Be open to a 149 grad transfer - of course up to Bryce and coaches - but look how a redshirt after freshman year accelerated Hunter Bolen...
7) Recruiting - 174 (hoping Howard works here), 184 and 197 have to be priorities. One strategy is to manage the roster so you get a high school senior to commit while you have a stud junior in a weight class. Allows said recruit to redshirt as a freshman and train with the incumbent who is then a college senior.
8) Note also have other outstanding incoming freshman recruits this year with great college potential Ventresca (125), Ulrey (157/165/174) - seemed small at 160 this year watching him all season. So fun to watch on the mat, Fisher (174/184) - there is belief he could make 174 and Nate Warden (174/184/197) - appears to be settling in at 184.
