I’m convinced feelers must have been put out by the SEC during the Texas A&M expansion. VT made more sense than Missouri, both from a new markets standpoint (DC market) and a football standpoint (better fans and football culture). I’m guessing VT was rather hesitant about turning their back on the ACC. Missouri wanted out of the Big-12 way more than VT wanted out of the ACC.
