My two cents

If there is a season it would have to be without fans. The exposure is just too great.

Very surprised that the college presidents came out and said that without students there would be no games played. I think they are afraid that if they played it would undermine the amateurism argument. But they may come to regret that position.

The possibility of having a season is heavily reliant upon widespread and frequent testing. Without trying to make a political statement, I find it very discouraging that our leaders have not massed a full scale effort to develop our testing capacity. Forget sports, this is really the key to trying to resume any semblance of normalcy.

It should be clear to everyone by now that there’s a trade off between keeping everyone safe and restoring our economy and way of life. So far our leaders have clearly leaned toward keeping people safe. The optics of watching people get sick and die overwhelms the economic impact, at least so far. I really don’t think that will change for quite a while. So it’s hard to imagine that there will be a college football season in 2020. Maybe a greater chance in spring of 2021.

But really, they are still so many uncertainties and no one has a clue. Just in the last couple of days we’ve learned that the numbers of people who are asymptomatic may be far far greater than we ever expected. So herd immunity could happen much quicker than ever expected as well. On the other hand, we don’t know how long people who have had a disease will retain immunity. In other words, anyone who suggests that they know what is going to happen is full of it.
