My wife got it. It's sobering, to be sure. Thankfully she is recovered now.
She's relatively young - 30s - and in good health, so I didn't necessarily have to entertain thoughts about mortality, thankfully. She spent a couple of weeks in bed and said that while it wasn't the worst she's ever felt, it was pretty close. Presumably I contracted COVID, though I never displayed any symptoms, which gives me pause thinking of everyone else out htere.
I suppose one thing that occurs to me regularly during this process is what causes my hesitation so often is the randomness with which the disease attacks the body. If you're younger, good health, and so on, then you're more than likely fine. But there are too many stories of people who fit that category who can't shake the disease, and sometimes even die. I've linked below a story about a W&M cheerleader who has been fighting it for nearly nine weeks. I was also reading an NYT story about a 27-year old EMT in the NYC area who went into a coma before recovering.
The odds are definitely in your favor if you contract COVID, but there's a randomness which should be a cause for concern, regardless of age, health, etc.
