Now don’t get me wrong here, I’m in the camp that thinks he and Wes Hand were recruiting for Iowa while at VT. I think that’s beyond wrong but it is what it is. I also think the only reason he left Iowa in the first place was so he could have head coaching experience for when the Iowa job came available because Zalesky just wasn’t cutting it. What I can’t have ill will about or consider him to be an “orange” for is getting the job at your alma mater that just so happens to be 1A-1B as historically the greatest college wrestling program ever. Now that the defending of the leaving decision is over with everything after that he was a complete “orange” holding ill will against a school because you allegedly did something wrong in the first place is stupid. Not wrestling VT when Tech had the better team because of something that had happened a decade ago at that point in time was wrong. He had no problem curb stomping Tech one year at National Duals when they had a overall better team. I’ll get off my soapbox now and agree Tom Brands ever since he made the “We’re not wrestling Virginia Tech” sentiment has been an orange.
