The amazing thng is we were only down 13-12 at halftime.
I can't recall a game where I felt so dominated yet it was essentially a tie game.
I remember walking away after that game marveling at the gap between us and Stanford, especially physically. It felt like they had a dozen TEs who were all big physical, and had good YAC. Their O-Line looked like an NFL line. I recall one play in particular where Bruce Taylor threw his mouthpiece downfield in frustration after Luck burned us again.
They were vicious on defense and our only TD was thanks to Tyrod's athleticism. Vic Fangio, the head coach of the Broncos, was their DC and my thought at the time was we should try to hire NFL assistants based on that experience.
Frank was right to make changes after that game, though ultimately none of the guys who he brought in were upgrades. I appreciated that he still seemed to be striving for the next level, though he would have (and should have known) that his best move would have been to fire Newsome.
