You couldn't buy a mask anywhere when he said that.

The Chinese had bought them up world-wide in January.

Also, the rationale for not wearing one (if you could get one) was that you had to be trained to wear it properly or else wearing it enhanced your chances of getting the virus. Folks, a mask is not a Hazmat suit.

Made no sense telling people not to wear them when Asians have been wearing them for years and you couldn't get them anyway.

I tried getting them in early March from Amazon and was given deliver dates for May 15-25 and it cost an arm and a leg.

A friend of mine in the Philippines went to the local Drug store there and bought a N95 mask for about $2.00 at the same time.

Something more to this story they aren't telling.

I think that it wasn't that you were going to cause a shortage like toilet paper. It was the fact that the Federal government was scooping them up and trying to help our frontline responders and didn't want people to panic when they tried to get a mask and couldn't. So they said don't wear one.

Of course, if we all wore the masks, the frontline responders may not have had such a shortage cuz we wouldn't have had so many cases.

But it's just not in our culture to wear masks like the Asians.

Many folks aren't wearing them now and I think that's a big part of the problem.
