Most states can’t afford to have their economies shut down.

What’s the cost to society if states have to severely cut aid programs based on budget issues? If we lay off even 5% of a states workforce most don’t have the benefit to weather that storm very long as far as state aid to those workers less the missing tax revenue. We just printed about $3 billion in stimulus for what will be a one to two month recession. What’s the cost of a longer “suppression”. CT, N.Y. and NJ are all advocating for federal funds to offset the economic impacts of the shutting their own economies down. Should the rest of the states bear that cost? How about Wisconsin. Their shutdown was tossed out in court so they have been fully reopened. Should they carry the burden of NY, CT and NJ refusing to? I live in SC and can tell you I have no interest in subsiding NY even though I grew up in the state.
