Sorry but no. Taking the number of deaths and the number of confirmed
cases is a much better way. Taking the number of deaths and the number of estimated cases is a much better way. Both of those are at least based on logic and relevant numbers. Yours is based on neither. It's not the same and the fact that you admit it's a garbage way to calculate things but still posted it anyways says more about your own biases than anything else.
Also hospitalizations are not "down across the board". That's just a false statement.
