It doesn't. More absurdity

If a decision maker believes football games risk lives, then you don't play any. Simple. This is purely a way to go thru the motions of being concerned about safety and checking boxes while allowing the conference to collect the big revenue stream from conference games. All about money and the appearances for doing something to mitigate the risks. Hypocrisy and right out of some politicians playbook. Almost comical really.
I've seen people argue that out of conference games don't allow them to have "control". Total BS. Did they even spend 5 minutes having a discussion on the same so called controls? Nah. Out of conference games could be played exactly the same as in conference on everything from the number of fans to the flavor of gatorade.
Truth is the whole damn season will probably go poof anyway but the fact this in conference nonsense was even a strategy proves all you need to know about the motivations and virtue of those in charge.
