I think we agree on the "What" (keeping what we have), just differ on "How"

We're both thinking about what is the best way to keep what we have.

When it comes to Stanford, they did cite Title IX compliance, and I believe that was the case with JMU many years ago, and several others. Essentially that came down to opportunities for women athletes.

Unfortunately men's wrestling has been a target since it's traditionally been a men's only sport when schools need to add more women's sports.

If you use what Arizona State did this year (and hopefully grow into more in the future) was simply add a woman onto the Varsity Roster (https://thesundevils.com/sports/wrestling/roster) being Maloree Smith. Hopefully that's a stepping stone eventually to a full blown D1 team. A lot of the same costs would be shared with the facility, coaching staff, logistics (though travel would still be separate).
