No one wants to be THAT guy/gal that ended ND run of independence. The burden of that label is enormous to say the least. We had past presidents edge up to water, just no one "brave" enough to jump in. I believe independence is great as long as we are honest on what it truly means. We are not a true indy, Liberty, BYU are true independents. If it was not for the loud big donors that threatened ND's bottom line we would be a full in member I believe. Most fans would bitch and moan if we joined, but eventually move on and get excited about the football season.

I appreciate the quasi-independence, I just am not married to it. Terry would wholeheartedly disagree with me probably.
