This will play itself out in the next few months....


...if the places like NY that were hit hard early but have seen cases and deaths ease off don't get hit with another large surge/spike in the next few months, especially as we enter flu season, then I believe your hypothesis may be correct. And if that's correct, what you're seeing in lot of areas that weren't hit hard early that are seeing jumps in cases now isn't a resurgence, it's simply the first wave that was delayed by lockdowns/etc. (though that delay did give a better idea of treatments/procedures in dealing with it). If this is correct, a vaccine will only add to the "community protection" that exists. That said, not sure anything will be "over" though.

If it's not correct though and we see NY and other areas get hit hard again....we're really screwed.
