Just remember in a home invasion or similar, you most likely won't have

time to retrieve your gun and it will be useless. Also, along the same line of thought, always have a round in the chamber and ready to fire, even that 5 - 8 seconds that it takes to chamber a round under duress may prevent you from being able to defend yourself and family.
