Catch 22 at Amazon. My wife went to our small rural post office to buy

stamps yesterday. The postmistress recognized her and gave her that day's mail rather than waiting for our carrier to deliver it. Among the items in this batch of mail was an Amazon envelope which seemed unusually thin. When I opened it, it was empty. By cross referencing the tracking number I was able to identify what was supposed to be in the envelope, so I called Amazon. When I got to talk to a person and explained the situation, I was told that they couldn't resend the item because my order was out for delivery and therefore they couldn't authorize a replacement. I told them it was showing as out for delivery because the carrier didn't get a chance to scan it when it was delivered because it never went through the carrier. "I'm sorry but I can't authorize a replacement until the package has been delivered. It's currently out for delivery." I was told they could send a replacement if it hadn't been delivered by close of business Monday, which, of course it won't be. Sigh.
