Howie was a great guy . I actually had a class with him called "Theroy of Coaching Basketball". He really knew his basketball and I am thankful I got to learn under him . He was big on defensive footwork and drilled that into our heads every day . If his team in 67 had just beat Dayton in that Elite 8 game he would be huge in VPI lore. That Dayton team that we lost to in the final 8 went on to the championship losing to UCLA. Dayton beat none other than UNC in the semi-finals.
