Some of the non-conference teams we might typically want to play do not have the same health testing standard as the ACC, so it was a challenge for teams to put together a schedule to meet that standard. It's one reason why the ACC rolled out schedules of 36 conference games for its teams, rather than the 30 games of recent years. It was one way of helping teams get enough games scheduled. It also dictated that ACC games be played in February in order to get the conference games scheduled on weekends. FYI.
