Please consider that .500 in a strong ACC can earn NCAA bids.
This is a tough baseball league, and much like in men's and women's basketball (and soccer, etc.), if you are around midpoint or above in standings, you have a chance at an NCAA bid.
The ACC's strength of schedule also affects RPI -- assuming they still use that measure for baseball in 2021; they did use RPI for selecting at-large teams for the last postseason in 2019. Remember that ACC teams are playing 36 games against each other this season (rather than traditional 30) to assist with scheduling during Covid.
In 2019, 8 of 14 ACC baseball teams got NCAA bids. Two of the teams were each 15-15 in conference play and had solid RPIs.
