90% chance he would be a bench player next year, right?

Murphy, Alleyne/Catoor, Radford are playing a ton. So Joe is looking at his third year before starting is even a consideration and he knows he needs to develops a lot for that to happen. May just be a simple as he wants an easier path to playing time next year. Get better by playing. When you have no penalty for transferring this is what happens.
