Yep...
my son got offered full ride by more than one SEC school that he wasn't even applying to for engineering.
he ended up at UF on full scholarship because it was the in state school (and the best of those). His friends were going there too.
He got in to VT (we don't have the program he is graduating in or didnt anyways...and they offered ZERO dollars), RPI, Drexel, Embry Riddle, and FIT. He was offered to Alabama, Auburn, TAMU, and I think UGa or USC (can't remember) without even applying. They were recruiting him. He got waitlisted at GT and Rice (where he really wanted to go and he would have to find a daddy that actually has money to afford). The other schools he got in to offered enough money to be 1/2 the price of VT too.
His favorites were VT, UF, Rice, and GT. He has enjoyed his time at UF though even if he didn't go to many sporting events. He has been too involved in research projects and clubs (GRIP is one...look it up) and he cares way more about his grades and work than I ever did.
