Pushing the rules is a winning strategy

Being overly physical and daring the refs to call it is becoming the norm in a lot of sports. In the NFL you can't stop the passing game without holding receivers, the Pats have done it for years. In CFB you see it the most from the Pittsburgh Panthers. Baylor was slapping and hand-checking constantly, the zebras don't want to ruin a championship game with constant whistles.

IMHO, the biggest problem with basketball and football is the challenge and importance of officiating. And it can't really be fixed. Which is why my interest is gravitating to hockey and soccer, which also have officiating issues, but not nearly as significant.

Nevertheless, Baylor was awesome. And sometimes basketball is beautiful, like in Gonzaga-UCLA, the uncalled foul on the dunk notwithstanding.
