But, is it all about money?

I like your way with words here.

Anyway, money, money, money (thanks OJ's) sounds like the U.S. government at work. Throw money at it and all will be solved, not - imho. A couple of guys responded to my post the other day asking how money will solve our problems and their responses had some sense to them. They said: We are not one of the 15-20 or so 50-year elite. And only a couple have been able to nudge their way into that party (one of those also with the help of the world-wide recognizeable brand name Nike to help I might add). We were kind of good to pretty good for 15 or so years, but judging by how recruits seem to view us today, we were never actually able to get a permanent seat in the forum. The other said, the pickings are getting slim with participating player numbers (in high school) dropping and that makes it even harder to lure the enough ballers to fill out a roster at the P-5 level.

Those things seem to make sense, but still there is the question of money, and how is it best used?

So what is it? What do we do with 30 million? Build another bigger and better field house? Do players want the latest bling thing? Do we put in some curved bowling lanes and yoga beds that in five years time will be ripped out and replaced with some more shiny stuff? What drives them in droves to an Alabama or Clemson or Ohio State - all that belief that more is better - or do they get more because they are better and have almost forever been? Again, it is just cash and more cash that will allow us to crash that elite party? Could be and we might with it, but I am unable to see it as short-term phenomenon to transpire if it ever it comes to be, and we find an out-of-thin-air money machine.
