Been there twice


Have a son who is a very successful D2 college swimmer and one swimming D1 next year. This is a normal stage. Swimming is very difficult and requires year round dedication. When you take away the things that make it fun, like meets, Summer swimming, etc., it becomes a grind. Poor coaching and bad team culture can also make things brutal. Both of my kids stuck it out and were glad they did.

I'd love to off on a long rant of what covid has done to these kids, and competitive athletes and other high achievers in other activities like band and drama have suffered disproportionately. Being married to a full time coach, I get her perspective every day. And apparently outdoor Summer swimming is going to be a s*** show as well because people are stupid.
