Rangers had several choices
The best choice was Monday night to send everyone on the team one by one to fight Wilson. That would have sent a message, and it would have been over with. Wilson overreacted to what he thought was a kick at the goalie and threw a bush league punch that would have earned him some justice for sure. No problem at all with that.
How NOT to send a message:
-Send out a histrionic press release that may well get you a huge fine by the NHL
-Whine incessantly on social media
-Fire two executives
-Start a line brawl very selectively avoiding Chara and lose the brawl
-Send the guy who refused to fight Chara to get beat up by Wilson
-Start two subsequent fights with random players (both were pretty draws)
-Have the guy who had the biggest beef on Monday act like the biggest goon on the ice all nice get thrown out for a cross check to the face of somebody not really involved in all the festivities so far
Oh, and don't forget coming completely unglued and losing twice to a team they had pretty much solved this year.
The Rangers did have a chance to handle the situation and failed miserably in the process.
