I think by the rules, DOPS followed their own guidelines when looking at this, which is something they didn't do in the previous suspension where they came up with this "totality" thing. It's hard to suspend Wilson for doing something Crosby did three times the next night with more force. That said, why is anyone surprised at DOPS? Eller and Oshie have histories of head injuries and are frequently boarded without any consequences.

I absolutely agree that Caps team needs to do something with respect to Wilson. He's way too valuable to be suspended and a big distraction on the ice though it always seems the opponents lose their composure. At some point they internally need to draw a line in the sand just like they seem to be doing with Kuzy now. The shame of it is that Wilson is often one of the very best players on the ice, and he has the size, speed, and marquee looks that could make him one of the biggest stars in the league, but he has pretty much squandered that this year, and I am not sure there will be any redemption in that respect.
