Why are some IT systems built like this? I'm using a Purchasing Order
system that I've never used before.
First issue, after I started the PO, I was never informed when it had passed initial review and I had an action item. No automatic email telling me "You have a task" or anything like that. I guess I was just supposed to log in every day and check. But that's not what I'm here to mainly complain about.
So when I figured out finally that I DID have a task to do, I went into the system and looked. I had to fill out a pdf form with some additional information and specifications, then attach that filled out form into the system. OK, that should be easy. Download form, fill it out and then go back into the system.
1. I click on "Attach". A box comes up asking me to select the file from my hard drive, which I do.
2. A dialog box opens asking me what type of attachment this is and I pick from the drop down.
3. A comment box opens, and I note "Filled out request for specifications"
4. Then I click on the nice green highlighted "OK".
5. Wait a few seconds. The system comes up with a confirmation box "Your file has been successfully uploaded" and I can click on another green "OK". So I do.
That should be it, right? It said "Your file has been successfully uploaded" and I acknowledged it. All good.
Nope.
After getting such a clear confirmation and acknowledging it, guess what? You still had to go to the top and click on a "Save" button. Why? I dunno. Because they want to make the process much less intuitive than it should be? Heck, even the box that told me it had been uploaded successfully COULD have said "Remember to click on Save a the Top".
